Author Guidelines

Hereafter are the formatting and uploading instructions for authors submitting a paper to the PSIVT2013 conference. Papers violating the formatting rules, the double-blind or dual-submission policies, or having more than 14 pages, will be rejected without review. Please see below for details.

The PSIVT2013 proceedings of the main conference and workshops will be published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science collection.

Program Co-Chairs

To ensure unbiased decisions, program co-chairs of the main PSIVT conference are not allowed to be co-authors of manuscripts submitted to the main conference (but may be co-authors of papers submitted to the accompanying workshops). The program co-chairs will be the only people involved in the reviewing process of the main conference who know identities of both the submitting authors and the reviewers.

Double-blind Review

PSIVT2013 review is a double-blind process, i.e. authors do not know the names of the reviewers of their papers and reviewers do not know the names of the authors. All papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee and may be accepted for oral or poster presentation. Authors are advised not to reveal their identity in the paper, especially when self-citing your previous work and your experimental data. A paper failing to observe the double-blind policy will be rejected without a review.

Dual-submission Policy

Authors can submit at the same time (by the deadline of the conference) a paper both to the main conference and to ONE workshop of choice. If accepted to both events (e.g., poster at main conference and oral at the selected workshop), authors choose according to their preference. Also, authors having submitted a manuscript to the main conference, and this is rejected, may use received comments to improve their manuscript and submit the revised manuscript to ONE workshop by the workshop's deadline.

IAPR Statement of Ethics

By submitting a paper to PSIVT 2012 all its authors implicitly agree to abide by the IAPR Statement of Ethics.

Camera-ready uploading instructions

  1. Paper Submission Site:

    - The PSIVT2013 submission site is managed by the EasyChair Conference System.
    - The paper camera-ready submission deadline is on September 25th, 23:59 (US Pacific Standard Time).

  2. Login as an Author:

    - Login to the submission site by using your author's user and password. If you have multiple roles (e.g. reviewer) for the PSIVT 2013 conference, go to the "Change Role" menu and login as an "Author".

  3. Select your submission number:

    - Select from the top menu, the paper submission number of the contribution you wish to upload.

  4. Submit the camera-ready version of your paper:

    On the menu at the right hand of the window, select the item "Submit a new version" of your paper. Here you can upload the last version of your contribution. Please be sure to comment in the *.tex file the line \usepackage{ruler} to eliminate the line numbering.

Camera-Ready Version Paper Formatting

Articles should be prepared in English according to the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science guidelines and templates.

The final version of your paper must be submitted in electronic format as a *.ZIP file to the PSIVT2013 submission site by September 25th, 2013. This file should include:

  • one tex file (NOT several, e.g. each section a separate file, and not a bbl file, all references in the single tex) containing the source of your paper;
  • all the used figures in pdf, jpg, or png format (NOT in eps format, and NOT in a subfolder; tex file and figures should be inside the same folder);
  • a pdf of the compiled tex file;
  • no separate macro file. If individual macros were used, then they should also be included in the source tex file.
  • Completed and signed Springer Copyright Form.

The manuscript has to follow LNCS standards below. Please be careful to erase the line \usepackage{ruler} from the provided submission *.tex file and to pay extra attention on how the references are written, e.g years in brackets, and authors listed by surnames first, followed by initials.

To publish the paper in the Symposium Proceedings, at least one of the authors must be registered at a full registration rate.

Maximum Paper Length

Papers should be submitted in camera-ready format. Each paper should be at most 12-pages long. Papers up to 14-pages long will be allowed but the authors will have to cover an extra per-page fee. No "squeezing" of text or figures is allowed. If the spaces between figures and text is too narrow or the required font is not used, the files will be properly formatted and resulting extra pages will be charged.

Author kit

Papers must use the following format:

  • LNCS author guidelines from Springer website (pdf, 1.1 MB).
  • LNCS PSIVT 2013 LaTeX submission template (zip, 306 KB). For camera-ready version please erase the line \usepackage{ruler} from the *.tex file.
  • LNCS Word 2007 submission template (zip, 311KB). The use of Microsoft Word is not recomended by Springer, as the layout of the pages can change between printouts. Please read the explanatory typing instructions "SPLNPROC Word 2007-2010 Technical Instructions.pdf" contained in the ZIP archive carefully.
